Tenerife, Canaries Holidays
Holidays to Tenerife take you to the largest of the Canary Islands. With a hassle-free direct flight from Dublin Airport, you can visit some of the world's most important UNESCO World Heritage sites, stroll through traditional Canarian cities, and lie on the volcanic beaches that wrap around Mount Teide.
The North
Up on the island’s north coast is Puerto de la Cruz, which is a great place to stay if you’re travelling with little ones. Home to the famous Loro Parque Zoo, children can see all sorts of animals here, including gorillas, hippos, and killer whales. Another family-friendly highlight of the north coast is Jardin Beach, which offers soft sands and a play area for kids. You also get a great view of Mount Teide from here.
The South
Towards the southern end of the island is Playa de las Americas. This purpose-built resort has been designed with everything you need to enjoy your Tenerife holiday, including nightlife hotspots, manmade beaches, and a busy commercial centre. Another excellent family destination, you’ll be close to major attractions like the Monkey Park zoo and Siam Park, home to the zero-gravity Dragon waterslide.
Climate
Visiting Tenerife in April 2025, the island typically experiences mild and pleasant weather during this time. Average daytime temperatures reach around 20°C, with approximately 7 hours of sunshine per day. Rainfall is minimal, averaging about 42 mm over 5 days, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities.
3* Catalonia Punta del Rey
In Las Caletillas, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Set in the north-east town of Las Caletillas, this hotel lines up a large pool, a handful of dining spots, and a healthy dose of sports and activities. It’s really close to Tenerife’s capital city, Santa Cruz, too.
The Catalonia Punta del Rey is in the town of Las Caletillas on Tenerife’s north-east coast. There’s a couple of black-sand beaches nearby, and Santa Cruz – the island’s capital – is a 15-minute drive away.
Outside, there's a pair of swimming pools, with one that's just for adults. Indoors you’ve got a pair of restaurants and good-sized bedrooms with air-conditioning and a balcony or terrace.

What's Las Caletillas like?
Perhaps the most famous parts of Tenerife are the striking black beaches that fringe its shoreline. These volcanic stretches can be found banking up against Las Caletillas, and make for an intense contrast with the blue of the sea. Go to Candelaria, for volcanic pebbles that soften to a smoke-coloured sand, or to Teresitas for its golden shores.
