About Söll

Söll’s part of the 288km SkiWelt, one of the biggest linked areas in Austria. If you’ve got a bit of ski experience already, you can cover some miles on the wide blues and reds, which are a quick bus ride away from the village. The slopes spread across several peaks and valleys, so you can visit other resorts in the area like Scheffau and Ellmau. Not quite ready to explore far? Start off practising in the Hexenwiese beginner area.

The small village is as authentic as it gets, with timber-framed buildings and an onion-domed church in the centre. And the places to stay follow the traditional theme too – think small, family-run hotels and guesthouses that have been passed down through the generations. Come après o’clock, warm up with a glühwein or pop into lively spots like the Mill and move your body to some live music, before heading back to your accommodation for leisurely dinner and drinks.

When it comes to off-slope activities, thrill-seekers won’t want to miss paragliding from the Hohe Salve peak, the highest point in the ski area at 1,829m. Or if you’d rather keep your feet on the ground, get your skates on at the outdoor ice rink.

Activities

  • Floodlit skiing
  • Outdoor ice skating

Après-Ski

Nightlife in Söll is more low-key nowadays – more cosy glühwein sipping than dancing on tables. There are still a few spots where you can get that authentic Austrian après experience though, from stein clicking to ski boot dancing. And as the action starts early and finishes early, you can join in the fun and still be back in time for your evening meal.

With around two dozen restaurants to choose from, most of them based in hotels, Söll is a pretty standard small ski resort. Look forward to eating like a local with lots of traditional Tyrolean fare. If you prefer a taste of home though, you can always find plenty of international favourites like steak or pizza.
