Duration:
7 Nights

Sestriere, Italy Ski
- Slopeside stays, Olympic-standard runs and good links to the huge Milky Way ski area.
- Heaps of piste-side accommodation, so heading up the mountain is easy-peasy.
- Ski your boots off exploring over 400km of runs in the wider area.
Follow in the tracks of Olympians on the Banchetta downhill course.
Sitting at 2,035m, Sestriere's one of Italy’s highest resorts, so you should get great conditions, whether you’re making those first turns in the nursery area next to the village or testing your technique on the Olympic downhill. Skiing-wise, there’s more than a week’s worth here. Stay local and explore the mix of wide-open and tree-lined pistes or clock up the kilometres with a cross-border trip to Montgenèvre in France.
Convenience is key down in the resort, and there are lots of purpose-built hotels where you can step from the boot room straight onto the slopes. And with over 50 restaurants dotted around, you won’t have far to venture if you fancy eating out in the evening. Speaking of, things tend to be fairly laid-back here later on. If you do fancy some après action, try Gargote Fashion Cafe – it fills up from around 3pm most days, and there’s often live music too.
Fancy experiencing a different kind of winter thrill? Swap your skis for a sled and dash through the forest pulled by a team of huskies.
See what other resorts you can visit in the Milky Way ski area.
Holidays in Sestriere come with 24/7 phone support and a Crystal Rep in your resort. Find out more about our Crystal service.
Best time to ski in Sestriere
In Italy, the ski season runs from December to April. Snowfall isn’t always as reliable here as elsewhere in the Alps but the excellent snowmaking makes up for it. And the dry air and low temperatures mean the snow sticks around for longer. Italy is generally quieter than France or Austria, so you can look forward to empty slopes during the week – especially if you avoid peak school holidays like Christmas. For bluebird skies and beautiful views, head to the Dolomites in spring.
4* Hotel Du Col
In Sestriere, Italy
- A minute's walk from the lift, so you'll be skiing in no time.
- Pick from a choice of two bars and raise a toast to the day's skiing.
- Enjoy regional food in the restaurant – and get drinks included.
If you’re looking to stay close to the slopes, then the Du Col will fit the bill. The Jolly nursery slope’s super close by, so beginners and families can practice to their heart’s content, with only a wee stroll back to the hotel afterwards. Skiers headed for the mountain will need to walk a little further – a 5-minute mosey will see you to the Cit Roc chairlift and on your way to exploring the Vialetta ski area.
You’re also right in the middle of the village, so making the most of the local bars and restaurants is a doddle. With some regional favourites on the menu at Du Col though, you won’t want to stray far. Wine, water and soft drinks are included too, making it the ideal spot for refuelling after a day’s skiing. Even better, you’ve a choice of bars at the Du Col. One’s a lively pub with beers on tap, plus it stays open later if you fancy making a night of it. Or you can opt for the more chilled-out bar on the ground floor.
When it comes to your room, you’ll find things are more on the modern side. Simple design, light colour schemes and a few vibrant prints keep things looking smart, yet distinctly alpine in feel – your own cosy space to settle down.
