Pas de la Casa
One of Europe's best ski schools and 215km of piste in the Grandvalira area make Pas de la Casa a popular pick for beginners and groups on a budget. The nursery zone is up the mountain, so first-timers can hop on the gondola and then practise their technique in lessons with professional instructors. And while they’re learning, intermediates can head off to explore the open blues and reds higher up and the tree-lined pistes in the Grau Roig sector.
The town might lack traditional charm but it makes up for it with lots of great-value self-catering apartments and an excellent après scene that’s earned it the nickname ‘Ibiza on snow’. Music starts thumping from mid-afternoon, and you can step straight from the piste to the slopeside terrace of the Aparthotel Les Olimpiades to kick things off. Then spend the rest of the evening grabbing a bite to eat in a restaurant, where you’ll find everything from classic tapas to fondue and fine dining, or partying in hotspots like Paddy’s Irish Pub and Milwaukee bar. And the best bit? Food and drinks here cost far less than in other European ski resorts.
If you fancy something a bit different, swap the slopes for a bit of shopping and make the most of the low-tax shopping Andorra has to offer, take a trip down the mountain to the city of Andorra La Vella or pamper yourself at the luxurious Caldea spa.
