About Les Arcs
Variety is the key to Les Arcs’ popularity. There’s everything from tree-lined trails to open slopes, with an excellent snow park to boot – so you’ll have tonnes to keep you going, whatever your level. Each village has a beginner zone and easy blues for learners, while the Peisey-Vallandry and the Glacier du Varet areas keep the challenges coming for more advanced skiers. Eager for more? Catch the cable car over to La Plagne to explore the rest of the 425km Paradiski area.
The resort’s split into several ski-in, ski-out villages. Starting things off, it's laid-back family-fave Arc 1600, which was the first of the bunch to be built. Bar-filled Arc 1800 is home to the après scene, and for quick access to the glacier, Arc 2000 is your spot. Or for that traditional mountain feel, try Arc 1950. It may be the newest, but its wooden buildings are oh so alpine. And it’s good news on the eco front too. The whole resort has received B Corp status – that’s an international award that recognises environmentally friendly companies.
Les Arcs is one of our best resorts for families. Lots of its accommodations are close to the lifts and have family facilities, the ski school is easy to get to and there’s plenty to do off the slopes.
Run by Evo2 ski school, Cariboo (4-12 years) and Petit Cariboo (9 months – 3 years) are the best choice of childcare clubs if you're staying in Arc 1950. Sports activities and fun are combined to make sure every child has the best time possible in the mountains.
The Mile8 Aquatic centre swimming pool has bubble beds and hot tubs galore. There’s also a cave to swim through and enough slides and water jets to keep your little ones splashing happily for hours.
Swap skis for ice skates at the outdoor rink, or for a different kind of thrill, whizz through the air on the zipline. Fancy some indoor fun? Check out the bowling alley, head to Laser Game in Les Arc 1800 for some laser tag and round it off with a trip to the cinema.
Dining
There are stacks of restaurants across the four villages to tempt your taste buds, from local flavours to other international faves. The widest choice is probably in Arc 1800, though 1950 also has a good variety too.
- Le Bistrot de Dodo, 1600
From tapas and charcuterie boards to homemade quiche, this spot’s great for a leisurely lunch stop.
- Casa Mia, 1800
This laid-back Italian restaurant’s a popular pick for its pizza, pasta and risotto, plus other dishes like gnocchi, veal and steak tartare.
- La Vache Rouge, 1950
A friendly, laid-back atmosphere and a menu with something for everyone - burgers, seafood, meats and pasta, plus Monday is fondue night.
- Chalet du Luigi, 1950
Savour delicious homemade pizza, with fresh ingredients from their on-site Italian delicatessen. The usual tartiflette, fondue and raclette also feature.
- Le Savoy, 2000
With low ceilings, wood-panelling and a wine rack covering a whole wall, it’s the perfect setting for digging into some Savoyard specialities. We’re talking tartiflette, fondue and crozets de Savoie, which is a local pasta dish.
