Cyprus Holidays
Holidays to Cyprus offer a Mediterranean getaway with a difference. With well-preserved neolithic ruins standing in the valleys of the mountains, and a blend of both Greek and Turkish cultures, Cyprus is well worth visiting. And with direct flights from Ireland, it's easy to get there.
Cyprus for families
There’s plenty for families to see and do in Cyprus. In the Paphos region, you’ll find adrenaline-pumping water slides, miniature golf, and parks with easy walking trails and playgrounds. Paphos’ beaches are also great for families travelling with young children. Coral Bay, a 25-minute drive north of the city, is ideal for little ones, thanks to the still, shallow waters.
Historic Paphos
Paphos is more than just its sandy beaches and energetic nightlife. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Capital of Culture, the city is home to some of the most important historical landmarks on the island. The Tombs of the Kings, which have been carved directly into the rock, are some of the most popular attractions here. Don’t forget to stop by the old Byzantine castle, and check out the ancient stone archways of the Forty Columns Fortress.
Mountain hikes
Mount Olympus is the tallest peak in Cyprus, and it’s a great spot for hiking. The Artemis Trail is a circular walk around the mountain, which takes around two and a half hours and passes by old Venetian ruins. Alternatively, head up to the Akamas Peninsula where you can hike the paths of the Paphos Forest. You may even spot foxes, hares, and hedgehogs on the 3-hour Adonis trail.
3* Makronisos Village
In Ayia Napa, Larnaca Area, Cyprus
With a big pool, a generous dose of things to do, and a well-known restaurant on its doorstep, the Makronisos Village is a great choice for families.
This hotel makes the most of Ayia Napa’s sleepier side. It’s on the outskirts of town, about a 10-minute taxi ride from the centre. You can walk to lively Nissi Beach in about the same time.
Just like its name suggests, this place is designed like a little village, with accommodation blocks spread among landscaped gardens. Inside, rooms are really spacious, and have a modern standard.
