French Camino-Crossing La Rioja | Our Walking Guide Tours | J Barter Travel

This will be our fifth year collaborating with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and we like to think that we are more than just their Camino providers, but their friends.  A great store of stories and adventures has been built up through the years. In 2019, the charity completed the first stage of the French Camino, from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Estella; this year, they will undertake the section from Estella to Burgos, bringing them across the winegrowing region of La Rioja. If previous years are anything to go by, it should be special.

We will walk through a beautiful landscape of plains and cropfields with some long walking stages. Some of the Camino’s most iconic places can be found along this route, such as San Juan de Ortega and Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

Finally, we will spend two nights in Burgos, the second great city of the Camino, with its imposing Gothic Cathedral located in one of the most beautiful historic centres in Spain.
