More Information
Considered by many to be the most beautiful of all Camino routes, the Via de la Plata follows an ancient strategic road connecting important cities during Roman times such as Seville, Merida and Astorga.
Set off from the captivating old city of Orense and continue through an unspoilt countryside, admiring the region’s ancient and medieval heritage and sampling traditional cuisine and local wines as you go.
This is the least known of all the Camino routes and therefore something of a hidden gem.
Stages:
• Orense – Cea (22 km)
• Cea – Estación de Botos (29 km)
• Estación de Botos – Silleda (17 km)
• Silleda – Ponte Ulla (19 km)
• Ponte Ulla – Santiago de Compostela (21 km)
Highlights:
• Walking along a peaceful trail that is widely considered the most beautiful of all the ‘last 100 km’ to Santiago de Compostela
• Exploring the gorgeous historic centre of Orense
• Sampling tasty local cuisine from the breads of Cea to the ‘cocido’ of Lalin
• Reflecting on your journey in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, then soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of the old town
