We've compiled a list of our top picks in each location to help you plan your holiday.

Regensburg

Make all your friends and family at home jealous by visiting Regensburg on your first day! Spend your day exploring this fantastic Bavarian city, and don’t forget your camera! Take a stroll through Herzogspark, a 1.5-hectare urban park, with a small yet spectacular botanical garden. Unwind at the L'Osteria Regensburg and taste the most delicious pizza and pasta Old Town has to offer. Yum! Head to Regensburg in the evening to be mesmerized by the beautiful sunsets over the city. Watch the city come to life at night and head to the Stone Bridge. Mingle with the locals in the old town and enjoy a drink in the moonlight.

Passau

The views in Passau are something straight out of a storybook! If you’re into beautiful scenery and astonishing architecture, you’ll be amazed by what this holiday can offer you! Get your architecture fix at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, with its distinctive domed towers and its beautiful colours. After all your exploring, we recommend you relax at the Inn River, one of the must-see places in Passau. Step into Weingut, and enjoy an informal and trendy feel here, creating the perfect setting for some flavoursome food.  Make sure to head to a Bavarian beer garden for an immersive local experience.

Linz

No matter which way you turn, there’s something stunning and fun to explore in Linz. This is what makes the city so fascinating! Walk a short distance from the port to the striking Ars Electronica Center, which focuses on society, technology, and life in the future. Here, you can control robots, clone plants, take photos of your retina and many other exciting things you really couldn't experience anywhere else! Don’t forget to check out the Open-Air Gallery Mural Harbor while here, in Linz. A professional will guide the visitors through the open-air-gallery, where you can see hundreds of different creative pieces. Every tour ends with a graffiti crash course for each guest. Time to get your creative hats on!

There are many different wine and beer cellars here in Linz. During the Second World War, the existing cellars extended to kilometer-long tunnels for the purpose of air-raid protection for thousands of innocent inmates in the Nazi concentration camp Mauthausen. Immerse and dig deep into the  Linz history, we promise it will be a truly humbling experience.
Enjoy the city's culture by spending your morning like a true local by taking part in Frühschoppen. This German tradition will have you trying the delicious beers, sausages, breads and homemade spreads in a local beer garden. Frühschoppen is common all year round, very often held at fun fairs, the most famous being Oktoberfest.

Melk, Wachau Valley & Dürnstein

Melk is best known for the 11th-century Melk Abbey, a vast monastery built high above the town. Check out over 900 years of history here! It’s opened from 9 am to 4 pm so make sure you get in early to see what the big hype is about! Get ready to light up your social feed with some of the most picturesque snaps you'll ever take. The Melk Abbey, one of Europe's greatest sights, beams proudly over the Danube Valley. Why not aesthetically please yourself by checking out the amazing Schallaburg Castle?

The Wachau Valley is blanketed with various vineyards and ornamented with cute villages. Consider renting a bike here and making your way down the picturesque river at your own pace, stopping to check out the different vineyards! The best part about The Wachau Valley is that the cyclist’s rule everything here! You can ride on both the North and South sides of the river. The south side is far more natural and peaceful while the north side is far more populated, and a lot of the vineyards are situated here. Either way, there’s something here for everyone! If cycling isn’t your cup of tea, there are many different hiking routes you can take! Exploring different forests and climbing up to peaks along the river. Come home with some amazing memories, stories, and photographs from The Wachau Valley.

Explore the restaurants, shops and scenic views Dürnstein has to offer and discover  why the city is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Wachau.” Become familiar with some of the friendliest people Austria has to offer. Dürnstein is one of the most visited regions in the iconic Wachau Valley. This town is almost something out of a fairy-tale!

Vienna

Next stop- Vienna! This is a dream destination, no matter who you are or what you’re looking for!  Your U Host will first bring you to Stephansplatz, a glorious architectural setting. There’s a lot do here but we highly recommend popping into The Stephansplatz Manner Concept Store! It’s your perfect chance to try out Vienna’s favourite sweet snack! With its hazelnut cream filling in a crispy wafer, it’s the perfect souvenir to bring home!
In the evening, check out the different trendy cocktail bars and enjoy live music venues Vienna is so famed for. To start off your night, enjoy a Strawberry Daiquiri for only €8.20 in Vienna’s hottest cocktail bar, Ron Con Soda. Or if cocktail bars aren’t your forte, take a visit to the Danube Canal. You’ll find many waterside “beach” bars that form a lively social scene every evening. Let loose and have a dance at the Chelsea club, Vienna's top venue for Dj sets and club music artist!
It would be a crime to go to Vienna and not try the Vienna Schnitzel. It is possibly one of the best-known specialties of Viennese cuisine and it’s a national dish of Austria. It can be served with rice, French fries or roast potatoes. All the best restaurants know to serve it with a small slice of lemon to give the breadcrumbs more flavour. There are many fantastic places to taste the delicious dish, but we recommend Pfarrwirt. With their outdoor garden and a charming setting, it is a perfect spot for an afternoon lunch.

Bratislava

Bratislava, Slovakia’s charming capital, is home to many lively bars. One spectacular bar you need to try out is the Virtual Reality Gin and Tonic bar. Their bartenders are happy to introduce you to the world of Gin and Tonic, while their animators will take good care of you during your virtual adventures. Face your fears by jumping from heights, fighting for your life and saving the world! If you prefer a more relaxed ambiance make sure you visit The Sky Bar. It offers the most exquisite views of the city with top class food.
Missing your dog while on vacation? Happy Dog Forest Hike in Bratislava offers people the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Bratislava City Forests while doing a good deed by taking shelter dogs for a walk. Sounds like an experience we’d love to try!

Why not take a trip through Slovakia’s Communist past? Start by hopping into a Škoda car, Czechoslovakia’s legendary automobile, where a local expert will take you off the beaten path to some amazing Soviet monuments, viewpoints, and food markets. Local insights are guaranteed! Watch the story of 20th-century Bratislava come to life, from political changes to the development of the society, architecture and more.

Budapest

Budapest is a brilliant city full of architectural gems and humbling historical monuments. The “Shoes on the Danube Bank” is a memorial to honour those killed by the Arrow Cross militiamen during World War II. There are over 60 pairs of shoes here in memory of more than 3,500 people.
See the whole city by taking a ride on one of the world’s largest Ferris wheel with 42 cars, standing over 200 feet high! Wow! The views from this cannot be missed. It truly is something out of a postcard that everybody should experience at least once in their lives.

Another thing we are definitely adding to the top of our bucket list for our U by Uniworld cruise are the Széchenyi Thermal Baths. These beautifully designed open-air baths are a favourite of many locals and visitors alike. The waters in the spas are believed to help patients with degenerative joint illnesses and other medical issues. There are a variety of different thermal pools on site, as well as saunas and steam rooms. Opened from 6 am to 10 pm, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a relaxing swim.

Go Hungary to the Central Market Hall. (Pardon the pun!!) The market offers a great selection of local and international foods that will amaze even the pickiest eaters. Speaking of food, Szimply is a totally Gram-worthy brunch spot, after all, nothing says Instagram than an avocado brunch.
Something you may not know is that Budapest is also known to have some of the best nightlife in Europe. It’s no surprise that ‘ruin bars’ are one of Budapest’s biggest attractions. Ruin bars generally occupy abandoned buildings after the war, designed as a bar making them really unique and fun to experience spots.  Szimpla Kert is the original ruin bar so we highly recommend taking a trip here. If partying isn’t your thing, we would still recommend going in and visit at least once during the day to truly immerse in the Budapest’s culture. Ruin bars tend to get very busy, so make sure you go in before 11 pm to get a table and to avoid the queues.
