The best 5 things in Jordan

Jordan is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It has everything between deserts, the most stunning beaches you could possibly dream of, friendly locals, flavoursome food and more! There’s so much to do and see here, it really is like nothing you’ve ever seen before! Discover our favourite things to do in Jordan, that’ll make you want to pack your bags and visit this stunning country for yourself!

Petra

While in Jordan, make sure to put visiting Petra on top your list of sites to visit. It’s defiantly a life-changing experience and in fact, Petra is now one of the seven wonders of the world. The tombs and monuments of the century’s old city imprinted profoundly into the cliffs are like nothing else on this planet. It’s no surprise that Petra is Jordan’s most visited attraction, with around 800,000 tourists visiting the site in 2018 alone! Petra is also known as the Rose City due to the colour of the stone walls of the cliffs. Sounds so dreamy! The site has also appeared in many films such as, The Mummy Returns, Transformer’s: Revenge Of The Fallen, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Also, Petra by day and Petra by night are both very different and they both should be seen. At the steps of Al-Khazneh, there’re 3500 candles lit at night between 20.30 and 22:30. It really is stunning! Don’t forget to bring your camera while here as it is defiantly a spectacular site.

Experience floating in The Dead Sea

Are you ready to float like a mermaid in The Dead Sea? The Dead Sea’s famously hyper saline water makes floating easier and the mineral rich black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments. Get ready for super smooth skin after! The lake also contains no marine life, as it’s far too salty. The best part? You don’t have to be a swimmer to enjoy this as the salt will keep you floating. Phew! Why not even bring home some face masks and cosmetics? We’re sure your friends and family will thank you later! I guarantee once you get in, you won’t want to come back out!

Private beaches

With stunning ancient cities and unbelievable deserts, beaches are not always the first thing people think of when they hear Jordan, but trust us, you don’t want to miss out on seeing these beautiful white beaches. Visit Beach Club B12 and experience what a private beach is all about. The beaches here provide white sand, crystal clean water, cocktails and fantastic music. What’s not to love about that?! The white sandy beaches give visitors a pristine seaside experience in a protected inland environment. The atmosphere is something you won’t forget. Take a stroll along the beach, feel the sand between your toes and the sea breeze through your hair.

Cuisine

Some of the world’s most delicious food can be found in Jordan. Not only are they mouth-watering, but they’re also Insta worthy! While in Jordan make sure to try the local cuisine such as falafel, which is a combination of ground chickpeas, mixed with a variety of spices, deep fired into mini patty like shapes. It’s one of the most common street food snack here for a reason! Moutabel is a roasted and peeled eggplant, combined with yoghurt, tahini, garlic and lemon juice. You must try it before you diss it! Lemon juice strikes again in fattet hummus which includes bread, humus, tahini, lemon juice. Trust us, it’s nicer than it sounds! Manakish is a favourite among the locals, which involves round dough topped with za’atar, olive oil, optional toppings, cheese, eggs, meat. This is then baked. If you’re looking for a small lunch to sit back and peck away on in the beautiful Jordan sun, Arabic salad is perfect.

Stunning destinations

While here make sure to view the ancient city of Aqaba. Aqaba beach resorts are extremely popular for windsurfing and other water sport activities. The area itself is known for scuba diving. Scuba diving sites include The Yamanieh Coral Reef in the Aqaba Marine Park, in the south of the city. It’s so stunning here! Perhaps considering visiting Mount Nebo. This site was mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. Mount Nebo is an elevated ridge in Jordan approximately 710 metres above sea level. The view from the summit provides a bird’s eye view of the Holy Land. It really is an absolutely amazing place to visit, no matter your religion. The sand dunes in Jordan are defiantly something you can have a bit of fun with! The sand dune in Wadi Rum has lovely yellow and red sand, and ancient rock drawings, that date back thousands of years ago. You 100% can’t visit Jordan without visiting Wadi Rum, it’s unbelievable there.
