JMG Ship Visit

JMG Travel, a family run company, has exciting choices of cruises planned for 2019 and 2020. Experts in fantastic value no fly cruises, JMG offer diverse locations while the emphasis is on providing a friendly personal service. We were lucky enough to get the chance to explore The Megellan cruise ship when it was docked in Cobh this April. From delicious food to top class entertainment, it’s no surprise that JMG is such a highly recommended cruise, with 95% guests ending up satisfied and enjoying their cruise experience! Sailing from Ireland, there’s sure to be a cruise or two you’ll happily enjoy! Read more here…

On Board Experience

As Britain’s leading independent cruise line, JMG have amazing on board experiences and activities. The cruises are usually targeted for over 50s, so the activities aren’t as action packed as other cruise lines. Nonetheless, they’ve highly praised activities and a large range of leisure evening facilities onboard all ships. Onboard, they also have an enrichment programme where they supply other complimentary entertainment for whatever your mood. From different guest speakers discussing their interests to photography classes, there’s a lot of intriguing projects onboard. JMG also offer arts and crafts classes which are growing in popularity. Some of these may include bead jewellery calligraphy making.

Cabin accommodation, full board cuisine, afternoon teas, daytime activities, evening entertainment and full use of the onboard leisure facilities are all included in the price on each ship. This is fantastic! The meals were absolutely delicious, and they cater for all dietary needs and demands. There’re two restaurants on The Megellan, The Waldorf and The Kensington, however, you can also indulge in the light and airy Raffles Bistro. You could also bring your breakfast or lunch to the pool deck when the weather is rather good. The table you use on your first day is your table for the rest of the cruise, no one else will occupy it. This is a little lovely personal touch! Also, the food is here is genuinely one of the best that we’ve tasted, so make sure you try everything on the menu!

There’re many different lounges to sit back and relax in in The Megellan, and don’t worry, the barman will soon know your favourite cocktail! The Megellan theatre style show lounge is without a doubt our favourite thing about the ship. With its very comfortable seating and booths, you have an amazing view of the stage where shows take place and even bands play. The music from the plays are always live music, which is guaranteed to make the whole experience a lot better than it being pre-recorded! Or maybe slot machines are more up your alley? That’s okay, JMG has a perfect casino situated in the heart of The Megellan for all you risk-takers! Or a hand of cards for all you card lovers? Mansen Card and Bridge Room is the perfect way to chill in the evening with your new like-minded traveller friends.

The Wellness Centre onboard is an amazing way to relax onboard. This beautifully equipped centre offers guests hairdressing and beauty treatments, along with top class massages. They also have saunas, and steam showers. With flattering lighting and soothing music, you’d be mad not to book a trip to the spa while onboard!

There’s also two outdoor pools and stunning decks that make for the most romantic stroll before you call it a night. You’re free to relax on the decks and work on your tan on the many pool side chairs or perhaps you could do your exercise outdoors! If you’re one that enjoys the gym (even on holidays!!), you should defiantly check out the gym on The Megellan for sure! Don’t worry, there’s also a mall on board for the shopaholics. Don’t forget to take a souvenir home, that way, you’ll never forget your amazing holiday experience! The evening entertainment is endless! Between quizzes and classical music ensembles, there’s something that everyone will enjoy on board.

There’re fifteen cabins and suites to choose from on The Megellan. We were very impressed with the cabins when we saw them. They’re perfectly laid out. On the suites, the rooms are named which is very nice. In addition, on board, they have several twin cabins set aside for sole travellers. There is a 25% supplement for solo travellers. Also, we noticed that a lot of the decks were named too, such as ‘Atlantic’ and ‘Pacific’. Lovely! Our favourite thing about these cruises are how they are a lot more personal than others. You just must see it for yourself!
